Council Votes to Prepare not Submit ALR Application for the Southlands

  • PDF
User Rating: / 2

There appear to be a widely held misconception that Delta Council has voted to make an application to the Agricultural Land Commission to include the Southlands in the Agricultural Land Reserve.

In fact this would have been so if there had not been a last minute on-table change to the Chief Administrator's recommendations. They originally read "submit" but this was changed to "prepare" an application.

Thus there will be no Council decision until after the Public Hearing on March 1st.  This misreading is most significant, and all concerned should update their understanding of what has happened.
Whatever your views are it would be best for you to attend this Public Hearing. Last minute on-table amendments are an unfortiunate factor in political events.
