Gun (2010) Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Val Kilmer, Anna Lynne McCord, James Remar, John Larroquette. Thriller sets its cross hairs on the rising crime rates and gun violence in a modern city in a slump, as the Detroit Police launches a full-scale war against the gun runners that terrify the populace. With the cooperation of the FBI they target a criminal named Rich (Jackson) and his vast arms operation. When a gun exchange goes bad and Rich's old friend Angel (Kilmer) steps up and saves his life, they form a bond that makes his supplier and lover, Gabriella (Anna Lynne McCord) paranoid and on edge. Howl (2010) Documentarians Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman directed this 1950s-era tale focusing on the famous obscenity trial launched to censor Ginsberg's groundbreaking book-length "Howl." The pair were approached by the Allen Ginsberg Trust to make a film commemorating the 50th anniversary of the poem. Extras: Commentary by directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman and James Franco; "Holy! Holy! Holy! The Lena Baker Story (2008) Tichina Arnold, Beverly Todd, Peter Coyote, Michael Rooker. The story of an impoverished and uneducated African-American woman's struggles in rural 1940s Georgia, the only woman to be sentenced to death by electric chair in the state. Her trial (before a jury of wite men) lasted less than four hours. After a six-decades-long campaign, her family finally earned her a posthumous pardon in 2005 from Georgia's Pardon and Parole Board. Recently, her weed-covered grave was rediscovered at the church where she once worshipped and a collection was taken to buy her a modest marker. (Barnholtz Entertainment/Lionsgate Entertainment).

TV melodrama follows a southern black woman in her 70s looking back on a life filled with joy and heartbreak after being called to help her troubled granddaughter. (Vivendi Entertainment).
